Brand identity design: Wexford Festival Opera
Rain created a new corporate identity for the Ireland’s prestigious opera festival, a major arts tourism event.
The challenge…
We undertook a review and created a new brand positioning for Wexford Festival Opera. Then we set about designing a flexible and recognisable brand identity for this internationally acclaimed tourism event.
- With an older audience profile it was essential to broaden the age appeal of the festival, without alienating the existing loyal base.
- The current identity was dated and did not reflect the modern festival
- No tagline was used to identify the brand's values or proposition to the audience.
The solution…
A new brand identity created a platform for taking the event into its new home and to the next generation of visitor.
- A new tagline, ‘Enjoy a rare experience’ focuses on the total experience of Wexford Festival, with a nod to their reputation for producing ‘rare’ opera.
- A new symbol is distinctive, reproducible at various sizes and in different media.

Client view:
I worked with Rain Design as the lead design agency for Wexford Festival Opera and the design work they created covered all aspects of our communications. They engaged with our board and staff to understand our marketing needs and created two new brand identities, for the Festival organisation itself and new Wexford Opera House, which helped position the organisation for the future.
We worked together at a time of great change and opportunity for the Festival, and faced many challenges and Garrett and the Rain team played a great part in two very successful Festivals, and the launch of our new House.
I do not hesitate to recommend them to you.
