Clíona Geary, design partner

Working in professional practice since 1990, Clíona has led major identity & visual communications projects in Ireland and the UK.

Since she co‑founded Rain, Cliona has created the award‑winning corporate identity for Botany Weaving Mill, visual identity, annual reports and literature for FIT – Fastrack to IT – (and many other charitable, social and arts organisations); communications design and report design for RTÉ, HR literature for Shell; and ‘Address’ magazine for Sherry FitzGerald PLC.

Beginning in London in 1990, Cliona worked with HSAG Design, Schneider Associates and Chrissie Charlton & Company.

She created information design, divisional branding, guidelines and literature for IBM Europe; literature for Ideal Standard and Reed exhibitions; a multi‑lingual literature programme and wayfinding systems for HMRP The Tower of London; corporate brochures for Visa UK and Greenpeace, and annual report design for the British Council.

Other experience in Ireland

Clíona returned to Ireland in 1997 working as a freelance senior designer with several leading Dublin design groups. Before co‑founding Rain in 1998, she created an award‑winning brand identity for The National Museum of Ireland & Cultural Institutions, designed mortgage literature for Bank of Ireland and an annual report for Barlo Group.

Education, awards & memberships

Clíona is a member of the IDI (Institute of Designers in Ireland) and her work has won design awards from ICAD, IDI and for design effectiveness in corporate identity from the GDBA.

Clíona is a graduate of Dún Laoghaire College of Art & Design [IADT], 1990.
